The helix is a model that I use to understand collective tacit knowledge - it represents the 'inside workings' of this form of knowledge and was developed through an indepth case study. It reflects the views of participants in organisations and has been used in both theory and practice as a framework .

The Helix is regarded as a symbol of the main elements of the tacit knowing process:

  1. Representation
  2. Dialogue
  3. Practice and Participation
Explaining the helix:

Conceptualising Organizational Knowledge as Collective Tacit Knowledge: a model of redescription. Paper presented at the Third European Conference on Organizational Knowledge, Learning and Capabilities . 5-6 April 2002, Athens, Greece lasix online.
